Compared with the well-known Pu-erh tea, dark tea may be easy to be overlooked. In fact, the history of dark tea can be traced to Tang and Song dynasties. Due to its characteristics of easy long-term storage and non-deterioration, it was one of the main goods along the ancient Tea Horse Road.
Dark tea is post-fermented tea named by its colour. The raw material of making dark tea is lobular species in tea cultivation. The origins of it can be varied including Guangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Hubei, Hunan, Shanxi and Anhui.
